In Blender we can create 360 degree panoramic images and videos. This only works in Cycles technically. We can upload the 360 panoramas to sites like Facebook, YouTube and others. These images can also be used in virtual reality (VR) or to create our own HDRIs. First you need to decide which photos you are going to use. Then you need to go to the file menu, Automate, then photomerge. A dialog box pops up and you need to browse for your chosen images and select them. You can now see the files in the dialog box, hit ok. Photoshop does its thing and merges and stiches the images together, creating layer masks for each image in the layers panel. Once it has completed the process, you can see the final image. I prefer to merge the layers together, selecting all layers and hitting CTRL + E, now I can work on the image properly, removing stitching/merging lines, and whatever else needs to be done. In my images, the colours are out, so I suggest colour correcting them before you merge them. I hope you liked the tutorial, and found it helpful. I was chatting to Chris Sale at the photography show recently about panoramic images and I have also been asked by a few people to explain how I go about shooting panoramic images recently, so on a trip to Hardwater Mill in Northamptonshire I thought that I'd go through the process for you. This isn't my normal style of vlog and I have to admit that making a 'tutorial' wasn't easy. I hope that it has been of some use to you. Tips From the Pros Here are some tips for you when you're out shooting panoramas: 1) Use a sturdy Tripod and try to stay "level" when changing positions. 2) Overshoot / Shoot wider than you need so you can crop safely. 3) Use a longer lens (50mm or higher) since you're stitching anyway. Wider lenses give you more distortion so your images will be more realistic/normal with a longer lens. 4) Shoot higher than F8. Most time-lapser and pano shooters will swear by the F8 to F11 zones for clarity and sharpness. 5) Manually Focus to make sure everything is the same (no shifts from frame to frame). 6) Slow Shutter Speeds (or ND Filters) to reduce and eliminate distracting elements (people, animals, random motion). - Thanks for watching our free Phlearn Tutorials! I shot Portra 160 on this Zeiss Ikon Nettar 6x9 , Circa 1953 . I cropped the images back to 6x17 . The 6x9 Negative gives you plenty of real estate to play with !! I talk through the physical act of taking the photos as part of a series, a guide to the best camera settings to use and then I show how to combine the photos into a merged panorama using Adobe Lightroom Classic's simple merge pano function. If stitching multiple shots isn't for you I also show a simpler approach using just a single photo. But whereas you would normally be reducing quality by throwing pixels away, I show how using Topaz Labs gigapixel AI we can upscale the image and simultaneously improve the detail, sharpness and reduce noise.
